Barometer World evolved from a skilled background in Antique Furniture restoration, which we can still offer to some customers (PLEASE ENQUIRE) . We have become international renowned for our Barometer restoration service. Antique barometers are meticulously restored; the cases repaired and repolished if needed. The fitments are cleaned and when necessary, replacement parts are used from our own extensive stock of authentic style spares, or when required made specially to suit. Many hours are spent restoring these fine pieces of art. We even make our own special instrument lacquer from natural gums, dragons blood, saffron and shellac to ensure an authentic finish to the brass work where needed.



Philip Collins's wide experience now leads him to be increasingly asked to appraise barometers including for the National Trust. As well as undertaken restoration of barometers for the Met Office from their small collection of old instruments and the National Trust, we have also restored a number of barometers for the R.N.L.I. and many members of the Nobility.
